15 iOS 27 Settings You Should Change Right After Updating
iOS 27 adds new options and changes some defaults. Here are 15 settings to check right after updating, for better battery life, privacy, security and comfort.
You just installed iOS 27. Before using your iPhone as usual, take ten minutes to check these settings. They improve security, privacy, battery life and comfort.
Security
1. Turn on Stolen Device Protection
Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Stolen Device Protection. Face ID is then required for sensitive changes when you are away from familiar places. Details: lost or stolen iPhone.
2. Use a 6-digit passcode or longer
Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Change Passcode > Passcode Options.
3. Check Find My
Settings > [your name] > Find My > Find My iPhone: turn on Find My network and Send Last Location.
4. Add a Recovery Contact
Settings > [your name] > Sign-In & Security > Account Recovery. It saves you if your Apple Account is locked: Apple Account locked.
Privacy
5. Review location access
Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services: switch apps to "While Using" or "Never".
6. Check app tracking
Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking: turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track" if you do not want personalized ads.
7. Safety Check
Settings > Privacy & Security > Safety Check shows who you share data with and lets you stop it in one tap.
Battery
8. Set a charging limit
On recent iPhones, Settings > Battery > Charging lets you limit charging (for example to 80%) to preserve battery health.
9. Review Background App Refresh
Settings > General > Background App Refresh. More: battery drain after an update.
10. Always On display
On compatible models, turn it off in Settings > Display & Brightness if you want more battery life.
Comfort
11. Notification summaries
Check that important apps (WhatsApp, banking) are not hidden in summaries: notifications not working.
12. Customize the Action button or Control Center
Put the flashlight, camera or Shazam where you want them.
13. Keyboard
Settings > General > Keyboard: add your languages (French, English…) and check auto-correction.
14. Safari
Choose your search engine and turn on "Hide IP Address" in Safari settings.
15. Automatic updates
Settings > General > Software Update > Automatic Updates: turn on Security Responses and system files at least.
