iOS 17.6 was released on July 29, 2024 (build 21G80) and was the last feature update of iOS 17. Apple followed it with iOS 17.6.1 in August 2024, first as build 21G93 and then as a revised build, 21G101.

Many people still search for iOS 17.6 because it was a stable, well-tested version. Before you download it, it is important to understand what you can and cannot do with it today.

Is iOS 17.6 still signed?

No. Apple stopped signing iOS 17.6 and 17.6.1 in 2024, shortly after iOS 18 was released. This means Finder, iTunes and the Apple Devices app will refuse to install it, even if you already have the file. There is no official way around this. Programs that promise to install unsigned iOS versions on these iPhones do not work and are often scams.
